2004-05-21 - 4:26 p.m. Heinlein says there are two successful ways to lie: To tell the truth, but only parts of it, or to tell the whole truth but in such a manner no one would believe it. The problem is that there is so much to tell you can never really convey all of it, unless you are lucky. So I spent the week in self-processing way. I was reading through another pattern, and comparing it to my own. Mostly trying to break up the stagnation in my opinions. The best thing to do with an opinion is change it, at least every now and then. I was trying to shake off a bunch of the lies that I have been accepting. I smashed some beliefs, and watched their broken forms, to see how that made me feel. Generally it hurt me, so I fixed them. When they didn't hurt, I hit them a few more times. This was me exercising the schema. Okay, so this idea was handed down to me by my Lord. These unfortunately are my feeble words for it though. Imagine you have a map of the universe, with all the physics and metaphysics included on it, however it is heavily encrypted. Layered encryption, so that as you work it out, you get pieces of the picture, but not the whole. Each level of encryption gets harder than the level before. Now when you unlock a new level, it changes everything you knew before that, by giving it a wider context, a deeper understanding. This in short is my approach to the universe. What to do with that: You can look for a teacher, who will help you decrypt some of the meaning. I think this is the traditional way. The universal pattern is all around us, so you don't actually need anybody else. Also, since language is weak, and the only person who can Really teach you is yourself. I try to teach myself, with the help of others in a non-specific role. Everyone is my teacher. Interacting with other people helps you find your pattern, because inside, somewhere, you know what you are looking for. You know when you find truth for you. SO one day I was at work, thinking to god, "God, I want a mentor, but I cannot think of who I could turn to, or if this would even be the right road for me." Within minutes of sending up that prayer, a man approached me. He was an old electrician, with a heavy southern accent. He said, "Do you know what's good?" I naturally over-analysed his words to the point they made no sense. He, seeing how slow I was being, said, "Human understanding, that's what's good in this world." And he promptly walked off and went back to work. I didn't even look at his name tag. I thanked god for showing me the way. The world is around you, if you wish to understand it, watch it, listen to it, and try not to be too startled. There is a pairodox parable. Funny? Love and Peace! Love and Conflict! But try to make sure there is love.
